"Program to Fight Against Nursing Home Abuse"

 September 1, 2003

Nursing home abuse, as well as theft and fraud occurs on a nationwide level. A new program to decrease the  amount of Tennessee nursing home abuse and nursing home abuse nationwide has begun in some facilities.  The new program has created an anonymous tip line so that employees or nursing home residents can report  any crimes or nursing home abuse incidents.

In addition, the new nursing home abuse prevention program allows residents to have lock boxes in their rooms  to protect thefts and other crimes. A zero tolerance policy has been implemented in the program so that any  nursing home abuse or crimes are terminated so that repeat perpetrators can be more effectively eliminated.  Cash rewards alongside the anonymous tip line are intended to allow the feeling of protection to those not  wishing to become involved.
